Psychotherapy helps children and adolescents in a variety of ways.
The age of adolescence ranges from 12yrs to 23yrs. At this stage the young person tries to balance their identity. This is the time of transition from childhood to adulthood.
The young person is moving back from the influence of the “we” to a new understanding of the “I” It is a time changes and of learning about self and personal strengths and weaknesses. There can be reluctance to accept the new self and a movement backwards. It can be a time of anxiety in face of new emotions, physical changes and a sense of limitations. Ideally the person accepts his/heidentity as a unique individual with limited gifts and strengths. failure at this stage can lead to great confusion about who the person is and difficulties in accepting self.
